Effective Date: [06.16.2025]
This Privacy Policy describes how Ungo Inc. (“Ungo Inc.”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the operation of our mobile application, Sound Meter (the “App”).
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We understand the importance of your privacy. Ungo Inc. does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) about you through the App. This includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, location, or device identifiers handled directly by us.
2. Information Processed Locally on Your Device
The core functionality of the Sound Meter App requires processing audio data directly on your device.
- Audio Data: The App uses your device’s microphone to capture audio input for the sole purpose of measuring sound pressure levels (decibels) and performing related analyses (like FFT and octave bands). This audio processing happens entirely on your device. We do not have access to, nor do we store or transmit, the raw audio data off your device.
- Measurement History: The App allows you to optionally save your measurement results (decibel readings, timestamps, optional labels) locally on your device. This history data is stored only on your device’s internal storage and is under your control. You can delete this history at any time through the App’s interface. Ungo Inc. does not access, collect, or store this measurement history data.
- Settings and Preferences: Your chosen settings within the App (e.g., weighting type, calibration offset, theme, audio source preference) are stored locally on your device to ensure the App functions according to your preferences. We do not collect this information.
3. Permissions Required
To provide its functionality, the App requires the following permissions:
- RECORD_AUDIO: Essential for accessing the microphone to measure sound levels. The audio is processed locally as described above.
- BLUETOOTH_CONNECT (Android 12+): Required if you choose to use a Bluetooth microphone as the audio source. This permission allows the App to connect to and manage audio input from paired Bluetooth devices. We do not collect any data related to your Bluetooth devices beyond what is necessary to establish and manage the audio connection for measurement purposes.
4. Advertising and In-App Purchases
- Advertising (Google AdMob): The free version of the Sound Meter App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob to help support development. AdMob is an advertising service provided by Google Inc. AdMob may use cookies and usage data (such as non-personally identifiable information about your device, IP address for coarse geolocation, and interaction with ads) to serve personalized advertisements. The collection and use of this data are governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. We do not share any personal information or locally stored measurement data from the App with Google AdMob.
- In-App Purchases (IAP): The App may offer optional in-app purchases, such as an ad-free version. These purchases are processed securely through the Google Play Store. We do not collect or store any financial information related to your purchases. Transaction details are handled directly by Google according to their terms and privacy policy. Purchasing an ad-free version, if offered, will disable data collection by the advertising network (Google AdMob) within the App.
5. Data Security
While we do not collect personal data, we take reasonable measures to protect the integrity of the App. Data stored locally on your device (measurement history, preferences) is protected by the standard security mechanisms of your mobile operating system.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Sound Meter App is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from users. Since the App does not collect personal data, it does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we might have inadvertently handled any information pertaining to a child under 13, please contact us so we can address the situation.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
